Innovation in Plastic Waste Processing Through Handicrafts at Asem 1 Public Elementary School, Cirebon Regency

Plastik waste is one of the biggest environmental challenges in the world, including in Indonesia. Plastik waste is also a problem in the environment of State Elementary School (SDN) 1 Asem Cirebon Regency, this is due to the large number of snacks sold using Plastik packaging. The method used is service learning (SL), which is learning through direct involvement in community service activities. The method used to reduce Plastik waste is through socialisation of how to recycle Plastik waste into handicrafts. This programme aims to educate students about the importance of protecting the environment by utilising Plastik waste, such as used bottles and straws, into useful and aesthetic items. This activity involved grade V students in making pencil cases and flowers from Plastik waste, while teaching practical skills and the concept of circular economy. As a result, students were able to understand how to manage Plastik waste into art products, as well as enhance their creativity. The programme received positive feedback from students and teachers, with the hope that it can continue to be implemented at SDN 1 Asem as part of the school's waste management efforts. Conclusion. the implementation of this activity is an effort to increase the awareness of grade V students of SDN 1 Asem in maintaining environmental cleanliness by managing Plastik waste into handicrafts into useful and economically valuable items.
