This community service workshop aimed to enhance the skills of elementary and middle school physical education teachers in the Thousand Islands region in identifying sports talent among children. The primary challenges faced include limited access to relevant training and a lack of supporting facilities for scientifically-based talent identification processes. Using a brief training method that combines theory with hands-on practice, the workshop involved 20 PE teachers and was supported by the Thousand Islands Administrative District Sports Office as the primary partner. The results show an improvement in participants’ understanding of fundamental talent identification principles and techniques, as well as their ability to apply these methods within school settings. Despite infrastructure limitations, the workshop successfully motivated teachers and coaches through the awarding of certificates. This initiative is expected to serve as a foundation for developing a sustainable sports training program to support a more integrated and structured performance sports system in the Thousand Islands.Published
