This activity aims to apply Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)-based counselling to help Bojonegoro Regency Petanque athletes manage negative emotions that often arise during competition. Negative emotions, such as anxiety and stress, can significantly affect athlete performance. The method used in this service involved 25 athletes who were given individual and group CBT counselling sessions, focusing on identifying negative thoughts and developing cognitive strategies to overcome them. The results of the service showed that on average from the pretest the athletes had high levels of anxiety, anger, frustration and stress, with scores ranging from 3.7 to 4.3 on a scale of 1-5. After the CBT programme was implemented, there was a noticeable decrease in each negative emotion category, with posttest scores ranging from 2.6 to 3.1. The percentage reduction in negative emotions ranged from 24.39% to 30.77%, indicating the effectiveness of CBT in helping athletes manage their negative emotions. In conclusion, CBT counselling is effective in helping Petanque athletes manage negative emotions and improve their performance during competition. This shows the importance of psychological support in maximising athletes' potential in sport.
