Abstract

The tradition of reading the Qur'an and studying religion must be carried out and
instilled in children from an early age. Children must be revived with the spirit of reading the
Qur'an and with various appropriate methods from their teachers. With the literacy of the Qur'an
from an early age, it is hoped that the Muslim generation will be able to understand and be literate
in their life guidelines. The Maghrib Quran Movement or better known as GEMMAR Mengaji is
one of the national programs of the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia which was
launched in every Province and Regency/City throughout Indonesia. GEMMAR Mengaji is a
program to cultivate the habit of reading the Qur'an after the Asr prayer or Maghrib prayer
among the community. Babakan Village itself is one of the villages located in Ciwaringin subdistrict, Cirebon Regency which is the most advanced educationally and economically in
Ciwaringin District, considering that in this village there are approximately 95 Islamic boarding
schools and many educational institutions are found from kindergarten to university. The Maghrib
Mengaji program’s through KKN activities took place at the Taklim Council, Mrs. Hj. Badriyah is located in the RT/RW Islamic Boarding School Block. 002/001 Babakan Village. With the learning
method applied in the program, 24 children managed to recite the juz amma level Quran within
one year. At the same time carrying out the commemoration of the Islamic New Year 1 Muharrom
1444 H. On these two occasions, parents of children and the community felt happiness to see
children who succeeded in reciting the Qur'an at the juz 'amma level as well as being a means of
giving thanks to Allah SWT.
