Abstract

The implementation of ISO 22000-based food safety standards is essential to ensure the quality of livestock products safe for consumption. The lack of understanding among smallholder farmers regarding basic food safety principles was the main reason for conducting this community service activity. The method consisted of counseling, group discussions, and simulations on preparing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for cage sanitation. The activity involved 25 livestock farmers in Cibanteng Village, Ciampea Subdistrict, Bogor Regency. The results showed a significant increase in participants’ understanding of ISO 22000 and their ability to develop and apply simple SOPs adapted to field conditions. This activity also encouraged positive behavioral changes related to hygiene and production documentation. The program proved the effectiveness of participatory-based counseling as a downstream form of livestock research implementation. Therefore, similar initiatives should be replicated sustainably to promote food-safe and competitive smallholder livestock systems.
