Abstract

Domestic violence is generally difficult to uncover and is rarely reported and investigated as a crime. In addition to being considered an internal matter and reporting embarrassing the family, society also tends to blame the victim. This study focuses on the phenomenon of domestic violence, especially against women, both from the perspective of its regulation in law and from a criminological perspective. This began since the ratification of the regulation as a crime both generally in the Criminal Code and then specifically in Law Number 23 of 2004 concerning the Elimination of Domestic Violence, the general public perception of domestic violence has changed as evidenced by the increasing number of reports of domestic violence.
