Legal protection for trademarks is a crucial aspect in ensuring the sustainability of small businesses, including home industries in rural areas. Businesses' lack of understanding of the importance of trademark registration leads to a high risk of intellectual property rights violations, such as counterfeiting and unauthorized use of trademarks. This study aims to examine the role
of trademark registration as a legal protection measure for home industry products and identify the obstacles encountered in this process. The research uses a normative and empirical juridical approach, with field studies conducted with several home industry players in rural areas. The results indicate that trademark registration provides exclusive legal protection and can increase the competitiveness of local products. However, rural businesses still face various obstacles, such as limited access to information, relatively high registration costs, and complicated administrative procedures. This study recommends an active role for the government and relevant institutions in providing legal education and facilitating trademark registration to support the growth of home industries in rural areas.
